I am using event calendar 6.1.1. and WP settings for time zone is New York

According to this article, Working With Timezones – Knowledgebase | The Events Calendar

in the Events Calendar Setting>Display>Time Zone Mode there should be a way to select either “Use site-wide time zone everywhere” OR “Use manual time zones for each event“. The problem i have is that this selection does not show up the only thing that shows up to do anything with time zones is “Enable Time Zone Support” and this doe not have any sections available it only has “Update Time Zone Data”. This really done nothing to help. Where do I find or enable this setting.

I host events that people join from all over the world. right now EVERYONE IS VERY CONFUSED as to the time my events happen. I have an even scheduled for 8pm-9pm In New York it shows up as 8pm-9pm EDT but I need to be able to show the event time in the TIME ZONE of the event. In other words If my event is in Los Angelis at 8pm-9pm then it needs to show as either 8pm-9pm PDT. But my next even is in Oklahoma City from 8pm-9pm it needs to show as 8PM-9PM CDT.

How do I get The Events Viewer to show this properly.

Or better yet it would be great if the even could show up as the correct time for the Time Zone the person is in on their computer AND the eventime in the place where it is being held. So in this case the event is in New York 8pm-9pm and someone in the UK would show up as 8PM-9PM EDT AND also show up as 12am-1am GMT. or if they are still in British Summer Time 1am-2am BST.

    Hi there!

When you click on “Update Time Zone Data” button that should allow those other settings to appear once you update and then refresh the page.

Additionally, once you have those settings available we have this guide that should help you have the time zone show for the events in the visitors time zone like you’re describing: https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/k/showing-events-in-the-visitor-time-zone/

I typed The Events Calendarversion incorrectly, it is actually 6.0.1 with WordPress version 6.1.1.

I have pressed the Update Time Zone button and have had no indication that the button does anything. I have refreshed the page and still no other selections show up.

I have read thru all the forum posts on this subject and can not get this to do anything for me.

I have gone back to the Twenty-Twenty theme and still no luck in making this work.

Does anyone have any other suggestions.

I really do not want to delete and reistall The Events Calendar and have to clean out the database and the reintall and renter all the data.

    Hi @schatzy62

    Thanks for your response.

Were you able to successfully migrate your events to the New Event Data System?

If so, would it be possible for you to set up a staging version of your live site and try to re-do the migration from it? This is to recreate the proper event data.

Here are the steps to revert and re-do the migration:

    1. Update to the latest versions of The Events Calendar and Events Calendar Pro.
    2. Remove any un-needed draft events and empty the Trash.
    3. Install and activate the Code Snippets plugin.
    4. Add this snippet and run it once (be sure it does not stay activated).
    5. Go to Events > Settings > Upgrades and go through the migration process again.

Please re-do the migration on your staging site.

Let me know how it goes.

I’m having the same issue. Using version 6.1.1. I do not see the timezone setting and it does not appear after updating time zone data. I tried the suggestion and remigrated the data but still no option to include the timezone. This is a big issue as we have people attending virtually from across the country and Europe.

I ended up having to close all my browsers (chrome, edge and firefox), clear all cache data, locate the temporary folders for each and manually delete all the unused files in them and then update all the bowsers by downloading the latest versions. Install them over the top of what was there (they all stated they were the latest versions but i don’t believe it). then after spending over an hour doing all of that. I went back to my wordpress install (hosted by siteground) and when i clicked on the “Update Time Zone Data” it finally worked the way it is supposed to. There was something in a browser that was hanging it up.

    Hi @schatzy62

Glad that you resolved the timezone issue.

Regarding the “hanging up” issue, does it persist even only The Events Calendar is activated? If so, could I ask for the URL where I could view and check it on my side?

@jimpresley63 Could you try manually updating your plugins to the latest version like what @schatzy62 did, and check if that makes a difference?

Mine was also a browser cache issue. After clearing that out as @schatzy62 suggests, it is now working as it supposed to. I have timezones showing on event!
