I tried editing a post with a tiled gallery in the Block Editor. There is simply no Tiled Gallery support or option anywhere. I read the post:

    https://jetpack.com/support/jetpack-blocks/tiled-gallery-block/

and even installed the recommended plugin in that post and refreshed the editor tab to make sure. But I cannot find any Tied Gallery option under the current block, nor can I find it under the JetPack options if I try to insert a new block.

I use the Genesis Framework with Studio Pro child theme. All the plugins and the core are up to date. I did not try disabling any plugins or switching the theme as editing in the Block Editor is not a high priority issue for me yet. It is conceivable that either JetPack or Gutenberg or both may need a look as well.

  • Hi Cemal,

There are a couple of things to check:

    1. Jetpack’s Image CDN must be activated before the Tiled Gallery option will appear. I can’t see that active on your site at the moment so please go to Jetpack > Settings > Performance and check “speed up image load times” is activated there.

    2. Go to Jetpack > Settings > Debug (in the footer) and then click “Access the full list of Jetpack modules available on your site” — you’ll want to make sure the Tiled Galleries module is activated there.

Let me know how you get on.

    Hello Gemma,

I have been using Tiled galleries on my site for quite a while. In fact, my latest post uses that exclusively:

    https://www.keptlight.com/let-the-garden-talk/

So, I have no problem inserting tiled galleries, seeing its options so long as I am using the classic editor. But in the block editor, they all disappear. So, I must conclude that the tiled galleries option is indeed active on my site. I had some message exchanges 6-7 years ago about tiled galleries using the image accelerator whether it was active or not. My understanding from that conversation was the overall image accelerator may be deactivated and tile galleries will go under the radar and use Ion anyway and judging by the active tiled galleries on my site, this behavior is as described and expected.

I do not want to activate the Ion feature because it makes replacing images harder and I already use a CDN.

The Tiled Galleries must use our image CDN, this is how we resize the images on the fly each time.

When you try to add a Tiled Gallery in the new WordPress editor, are you saying that you don’t see a Tiled Gallery block if you search for it? https://jetpack.com/support/jetpack-blocks/tiled-gallery-block/

Yes, James, that’s what I am saying. I can send you screen captures if you like. In fact, if I try to edit a post that has a tiled gallery in it, that gallery converts to a regular gallery. If I attempt to insert a new block, there is no option for a tiled gallery anywhere, including the JetPack accordion. Would you like me to get you screen captures?

    No screenshots necessary, yet. ??

It is possible to disable our blocks individually via a function, which means any other plugin or even the theme could be doing that.

Would you please check to see if you can use a Tiled Gallery block when all other plugins are deactivated and only the Twenty Nineteen theme is in use?

James, that is far too much work to switch the theme and put everything back again. I have to record the widgets at every location and then put them back after I return to my theme. Sorry, I cannot do that.

I apologize, I left out a crucial part of the recommendation.

The Health Check plugin https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/health-check/ has a Troubleshooting Mode which will allow you to deactivate all plugins and switch to Twenty Nineteen for your user only, meaning it won’t affect anyone viewing the site.

So, all you need to do is enter Troubleshooting Mode and re-activate Jetpack to see if the problem continues.

OK. On a staging site, I have there is a replica of my site. There, I disabled all the plugins, including the Classic Editor and Gutenberg. The same problem, the tiled galleries simply reverted to regular galleries. Then, I installed the Health Check plugin and left only JetPack active, changed the theme to TwentyNineteen. The tiled galleries are gone still. I’ll be glad to give you access to that site if you want to see it yourself. Send me a private e-mail or provide a method by which I can give you admin credentials if you want to try it.

    The site is:
    https://www.testbed.biz/bugatti-royale/

you can see the tiled galleries active, two of them.

I don’t see anything in our email support system under your account since a year ago.

Did you submit your support request via https://jetpack.com/contact-support/?rel=support ?

If so, what was the first part of the email address used? (before the @ symbol)

    (@acekin)

Yes, I clicked on the link you provided and gave all the information. I am glad I asked. The first part of the e-mail would have been [redacted]

    Thank you,

Assuming you mean the [redacted] address, please submit again, because the most recent thing we have from that is a year ago.
