• At https://www.waterstonewildlife.org/journal/, I have changed the title headings to reflect the time instead of a text title.

However, I cannot find a way to have the previous_post_link/next_post_link on the individual post pages relate to time instead of title of the posts. Is there a way to do this? (Note: there are still titles present but they will be removed as soon as I get the time thing going.)

    Thanks for your help.

  • You’d have to hack those functions (and a few more) to get what you’re after, since they’re ignorant of the actual post dates for previous and next posts. However, I’ve done a number of quickie (i.e. forum requested) plugins which are mods of the next/previous post functions, and could rewrite one to accomplish this.

Note it’ll to take me a few days to get to this, though (I’ll reply when it’s online).

You’ve come to the rescue again, Kafkaesqui! Thanks so much. I look forward to seeing the mod in action.

UPDATE: I might be using the previous_post_link/next_post_link post titles after all to give the search engine something to catch. The main posts will still be listed by date, however.

I would still be interested in how my original request was accomplished but it’s not a high priority if you don’t have the time. Someone else might find it useful in the future though . . .

Oh, I’ll still do it (since it will be useful as a framework for similar mods). Anyway, an interesting idea would be to have the post title as link text, and post date in the link title attribute.
