All events are suddenly displayed with a time offset of +6 hours. I have verified that the server time zone is set to America/New_York (see https://weru.org/time.php). I have verified that WordPress time zone is set to America/New_York. I used Event Manager Options>General>Admin Tools (Advanced)>Reset Timezones to reset all Timezones to America/New_York.

When editing the event, the proper time and date shows in the editable fields, but the time is +6 hours when viewed in Date and Time column of Dashboard>Events as well as on the public site.

All our posted descriptions have been edited to show the times of the event, but the separate calculated time is also off by +6 hours.

We are running: Events Manager Version 5.9.7.1 and Events Manager Pro 2.6.7 on WordPress 5.3.

    I am stumped. Any suggestions?

  • Hello,

Have you checked the Settings under Events > Settings > General > General Options > Default Timezone. There’s also a separate settings for timezones on each events which can be found on right sidebar along with the Date/Time.

Within the past 24 hours, we have also encountered this problem. We are also in the NYC time zone (UTC+5) and this is reflected in the Events>Settings>General>General Options>Default Timeszone AND IT HAS WORKED PERFECTLY FOR SEVERAL YEARS.

I noticed, however that in the Admin Tools tab, there is an option to RESET EVENT TIME ZONES and UTC currently shows as the default. Even though this is not correct for our ONE AND ONLY locale, given that until today, everything has worked perfectly, should I nevertheless click the Reset Event Time Zones to UTC+5? If not, what can we do to resolve this unfortunate situation?

    We are currently running v5.9.7.1

    Thanks very much.

Also having the same problem that cropped up for the first time more than a week ago after having no problems whatsoever for 2+ years.

Time is offset +8 hours for manually created events. Correct time shows in the event editor but incorrect time shows on dashboard and on public view of event.

Settings for WP and for event manager show New York (Eastern time) as the time zone. Have tried to isolate problem using safe mode. No luck.

This is a serious problem that goes to the heart of the plug in and needs to get fixed.

Running Word Press 5.3 and Events Manager 5.9.7.1. Website is https://www.uuforwardtogether.org. Example is the event UU the Vote which shows up as Jan. 13 12:00 – 1:30 am but was entered as Jan. 12 4:00 – 5:30 pm.

So far I don’t experience any timezone issues on my events, Though it might be confusing but EM have 2 ways to set timezones to events.

    1. Under Events > Settings > General > Default Timezone (https://monosnap.com/file/Qs3XmrE8LBzK8NhcYVyIlg7Ou4arRd)
    – This is the default Timezones.

    2. When you’re creating a new event, There’s a dropdown on right side that let’s you select the timezones also. (https://monosnap.com/file/6Dj7g4XtPB3fLrDlQItzNKOzbz5OV9)

The #2 is prioritized over #1.

The Reset Timezones under Events > Settings > Admin Tools > Reset Timezones
    – This would reset the timezones of all event to the one selected: https://monosnap.com/file/q9T1QNQ7knms6RzhNOoe8jcd7LLFgt

We are in the NYC time zone and that area appears by default whenever we create a new event. Our default Timezone has always been New York. Until very recently, every event has been displayed correctly, but now EVENTTIMES returns an incorrect time.

In short, #1 and #2 in timrv’s suggestion above indicate that our settings are exactly right. Yet, EVENTTIMES in a widget are way off.

We’re unsure of the implication of the last paragraph in timrv’s response above. Should we ensure that RESET TIME ZONES is set to UTC+5? (Currently, it displays UTC.)

Thank you, timrv, but no luck. Both the general setting for event manager and the specific settings for the event were set to New York time (and I subsequently also checked the reset under advanced administrator) but new events are still off by 8 hours. And, as I said, I also checked the general WP settings which also specify New York as the time zone.

Hope that the developer can respond and figure out because the glitch/bug is making it useless for event posts.

I’m not overly tech savvy and don’t do coding, but I want to emphasize that all my settings in event manager seem to be right and experienced no problems until recently (with no intervening changes to the set up) yet the date/time are off 1. in the display of upcoming events and on the post for each event (manually created, not imported).

Hope events manager developer can figure this out.

    timrv:

By chance, when you experience no time zone issues are you in UTC+0?

We have now RESET TIME ZONES to UTC+5 and see NO CHANGE in the erroneous display of EVENTTIMES in your widget shortcode.

As was the case before we reset the time zones, the correct times for events appear on the full calendar and on the user’s view of individual events. The problem seems confined to the EVENTTIMES displayed in the widget shortcode.

    Hello,

I have forwarded this to our Devs so they could check or make a test also.

So far I don’t experience any Timezone issues on my events. My main timezone is set to Hongkong and I have 3 events that are set to HK, NY and UTC+0. So far all those events are working as it should.

For everyone that is experiencing this, Do you all have EM 5.9.7.1 installed? Could you perhaps share the WP and PHP versions that you’re using also? I would like to try and make another test environment with the same versions that you’re using.

As per previous post, EM 5.9.7.1 and WP 5.3.

Link below to screenshots showing settings for time in WP and EM as well as time shown in event editor and in event list and event page.

    TIMRV:
Per your request, we’re running EM 5.9.7.1, WP 5.3 and PHP 7.2.
Look forward to a solution that is troubling a bunch of us.
    Thanks.

We have reverted to WordPress 5.2.4 and the times are displaying properly now.

Note that further testing showed this error while editing a Post (not an Event), so I think we can set aside concerns that it is caused by some bug in Events Manager. See this screenshot from editing a Published Post and clicking the Edit link in Publish > “Published on:”

    @alagahd
Sorry to be dense. I’m pretty much of a dummy when it comes to WP stuff.
I’ve encountered this issue with respect to creating new events, not posts, so I’m not sure what you’re saying (but I did notice that the “published on” date for the event wasn’t corresponding to actual time.
Are you saying that this is a WP issue, not an EM issue, and that I could fix this by reverting to WP 5.2.4 (and then making sure that I don’t update to 5.3 and put this problem back in the lap of WP).
    Many thanks.

    @alagahd
I’ve done as you suggested, reverted to 5.2.4, and, viola, the correct time for the problem event now displays correctly. I will test some more with adding new events to make sure it is working as it should.
So this is a problem that the EM developer can resolve by doing whatever to make sure that EM plays nice with WordPress 5.3???
    Thanks for your help.
Will stay tuned to see if others weigh in on this.
