I have been using Gamipress for years now, and love it. It drives a lot of engagement at my site. However, it also slows my site way down. My gamipress logs meta table is 260k rows. I clean it regularly. The last update has all but killed my site.

I know for sure that part of the issue is achievements that are still ‘open’ or enabled, for previous years. I restart my program every year, and of course never have time to go in and manually disable every step for every achievement, almost all of which are comment checking achievements.

I requested it before and would like to request again a way to either bulk disable achievements (mine are all organized by achievement types that are tied to year – for example 2020 Achievement Badge, 2020 Achievement Title, etc.), or put a time limit on them beyond which they are automatically disabled. Then the system won’t be checking achievements that are tied to comments on posts that either have comments closed or that aren’t achievable anymore.

    Hi @peeld

For you case, there is a trick you can perform to edit multiples steps at the same time:

1 – Go to GamiPress > Settings > Check the option “Debug Mode” > and click on “Save changes”
2 – A new menu named “Steps” will appear under GamiPress menu (if does not appear after save your settings, just refresh again the page to let GamiPress refresh your preferences)
3 – Navigate to GamiPress > Steps menu
4 – Select the posts you want to edit through the check box at righ
5 – At top of that screen you will see a field named “Bulk actions” set it to “Edit” and click on “Apply”
6 – Select the status “Draft” and click on “Update”

Here is a video to help you see how it works:

About your logs, have you checked the logs cleanup tool located at GamiPress > Tools? The logs cleanup will let you remove old logs entries to let you reduce this number of entries

    Hope it helps!

Oooh, this is a neat trick! Ok, I appreciate this.

yes, I have cleaned up the logs, and am trying to update the gamipress database, but it fails and crashes my site about every 100 entries (with over 12,000 to go at this moment). So it is very slow going ?? But I appreciate that trick!

    Hi @peeld

Our team just released a new update today, the 2.3.9 update, that will prevent this from happening again and will make the upgrade process run smoothly to prevent your site from collapsing while running.

Please, update GamiPress to the 2.3.9 update and run the upgrade again while it gets installed.

    Hope it helps!
