We’ve noticed that the Time.ly events database is not being searched. We are using a plugin called Relevanssi to improve WP’s search function. Events do not show with this plugin enable or with it turned off. In the Time.ly settings “Exclude events from search results” is UNCHECKED. I have also tried checking it and unchecking it.

Is there anyway to get WordPress to search the events?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Hi lutzcreativegroup,

In google, I did a quick search for events from your calendar and found over 800 results:

    https://www.google.ca/search?q=”jmoreliving.com%2Fevent%2F”&oq=”jmoreliving.com%2Fevent%2F”&aqs=chrome..69i57j69i58.3774j0j4&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8

To further enhance SEO and page indexing and visibility and rank, there are many other things you can do.. you can try using tags, and displayed tags will lead Google bot to more pages.

That’s great that it is showing in Google. I was referring to the website’s search function. The magnifying glass in the corner. No results show.

    Hi @lutzcreativegroup,

My apologies for misunderstanding your original question.

I verified the search function problem on my end also.

I suspect this is due to your theme itself.

You can run a test by switching to a different theme, then try doing a search and see if the events appear in the results. If so, then there is a probem with your theme. Let me know the results.

I tried it in Twenty Sixteen and Twenty Fifteen. I added a search field to the sidebar in those to search. Nothing came up when I searched for a unique name event “MeshugaNutcracker”

    Hi @lutzcreativegroup

If this problem is not caused by your theme, it may be a result of a plugin conflict (usually caused by a caching or security plugin).. Please disable all plugins and then check if the problem recurrs — then re-enable each one until you find which one caused the problem. Let me know the results.

Okay, so I somehow got it working on the dev server which you cannot see.

The sites are not completely identical, however. The dev site has many fewer stories. We are using a search plugin called Relevanssi, I did reindex the site on the dev and now I see the result. I reindexed on the live site going through almost 3,000 posts. Took about 7 minutes to do this. The problem persists on the live site. Obviously it is much harder to turn plugins off and switch themes on the live site.

The dev site is using the latest Relevanssi. I am just updated Relevanssi on the live site and reindexed. I noticed the log on the indexing is not complete. I am going to reach out to Relevanssi. I also reached out to the theme maker as well. Covering all my bases. Pretty sure it is nothing to do with your plugin. I appreciate the help narrowing down the issue.

    @lutzcreativegroup

Glad to help. I’m guessing the problem is related to Relevanssi, or, a different caching or security plugin.

I just wrote to Relevanssi because I noticed the indexing log seemed to stick on 60 posts when the site has 2700

    Makes sense now.
