• Our timezone used to be correct, but its not any longer. I just got a message from someone that they were all off and I took a look and yes they’r’e all over by 6 hours.
I’ve looked over this page (https://docs.simplecalendar.io/timezone-settings/)
I have the global calendar setting (gear top right corner) to GMT -6 Central Time – Chicago
Clicked on the individual calendar and it’s set to GMT -6 Central Time – Chicago
Calendar settings in wordpress set to: site default (America/Chicago)
General WordPress setting: UTC -6 (and it shows my time below that where it shows the Universal Time and Local Time.
Thanks for any insight anyone can offer into this issue.

  • I have the same issue. It was working fine until a day or two ago, now all times are off 6 hours and changing timezones/offsets has no effect. Unfortunately, I think this plugin is not supported anymore. If you find a solution, please post here. I will also be looking for a solution.

It was weird. I added the plugin to 2 other wordpress sites and their time is correct. I checked the calendar settings, the wordpress time setting, the calendar settings, etc.

I had to just stop using it because I couldn’t figure out how to fix it. I’ve embedded the gmail calendar directly into a wordpress page and it works and looks just fine. you might try that as well. You can add it as an agenda format (showing only the scheduled events), a full calendar page, etc.

Has anyone found a solution to this? We have this same issue on a multisite set up that has 25+ sites and 25+ calendars… The same problem exists on all the calendars.

We’ve paid for the premium add-ons and I’ve reached out to support. Hoping to hear back from them soon!

I’m having the exact same issue. Checked time zone in WP and tried every option for setting time zone in Simple Calendar to get it to display correctly and nothing works. Anyone hear from support on this? All events display as 6 hours later than they are in the Google calendar.

    Hi @sredden,

We were able to show and review the issue with support, but they weren’t able to help much because they couldn’t replicate the issue on their server, and we could not give them access to ours because the client has tight restrictions on who gets admin access to their site and server. We turned off all plugins and used the default theme, and the problem still persisted, so we were completely stumped. We used CSS to hide the time while we worked on the issue, and in the end, modified the plugin itself to override the settings and show our specific time zone. It’s definitely not an ideal solution, but we didn’t feel like we had any other options at that point.

Sorry that’s not much help. If you do have a site that you are comfortable granting admin access to the plugin developer, maybe they can take a look. (Sidenote: I had to be pretty persistent with my support requests.) Good luck!

I’m having the same problem on a local development platform. Have calendar set to use local time (North America / Los Angeles), Google calendar set to use same timezone. Times are off by either 17 hours earlier or 7 hours later.

On my other site where nothing has been changed for months, times are also off. I can grant temporary access to support if that would help. Also, I’m running an older version of Simple Calendar on both sites, which makes me wonder whether it has something to do with either Google or WordPress updates.

Update – setting the WordPress time to different UTC times does nothing. Clearing the cache does nothing. Setting the timezone to use the Events Source instead of Site Default does nothing.

    Jacksonsky,

What code did you modify in order to override the timezone settings? I think I’m going to have to do the same.

    Thank you.

This is now clearly a problem with the current version of WordPress. The problem went away when I downgraded to WordPress version 5.2.4.

@darthtater – I had a feeling that the newest version of WordPress might be the culprit. Unfortunately downgrading wasn’t an option for us. Unfortunately, I don’t know the exact code was modified. My coworkers (a PHP developer and Javascript programmer) worked together to make a lot of modifications to make it work. Sorry I can’t be of more help.

Thank you for the reply, jacksonsky. It’s too bad your co-workers weren’t able to track their changes. They might have been able to make those fixes available to others. I don’t know php all that well although I can usually wander my way through javascript.

I’m seeing the same issue; I forced the timezone in the calendar to “trick” the display of the correct time.

@irvingbos – can you let us know how you forced the timezone to trick the calendar? I’m experienced in wordpress and php, but still have not found how to do it.

Hi there, in the calendar feed setup there is a field to set the timezone of the calendar. I adjusted that to compensate for how far off the calendar was being displayed.

@irvingbos Thank you! That did the trick. On the Edit Calendar page in Settings under Advanced I changed it to Custom/UTC-10 for U.S. Central time (It should be UTC-5). But now I have the correct times.
