• Hi there,

My website keeps on having Error 500 – Internal Server Error.
I checked my error logs and I keep receiving this error:

“Timeout waiting for output from CGI script /home/u2-p59nnmhmkwqf/www/XXXXXXXX.org/public_html/wp-admin/admin-ajax.php”

I tried to run the website on GTMetrix to check the Waterfall to hopefully see what scripts are loading admin-ajax.php heavily but the report did not include /wp-admin/admin-ajax.php specifically.

My website is hosted on SiteGround and I was informed the error 500 is caused by a script, which I assume is by a plugin I’m using. However I cannot seem to pin point which plugin is causing it. I cannot replicate the issue because the error 500 is intermittent.

Any ideas how I can diagnose and fix this?

    Thank you!

  • You could use the DevTools built into your Browser. If not sure how then use a Search Engine to find tutorials specific to your Browser.

You could also use a plugin like this to help troubleshooting back-end or front-end problems.

I use it all the time and it can be really helpful.
