• Thanks for a simple, effective plugin! (I especially like the “import/export” feature!)

This isn’t really a support issue; it’s a feature request.

The only thing that stops this from being absolutely perfect for my use is the lack of a timer. Would you consider adding a countdown timer (with “freeze” feature when time elapses) in the future?

If not, I can add something similar as a widget in a sidebar, but I’d love it if you could integrate a timer directly.

Thanks again for a great plugin!

    Hi Jeff,
Thanks for the feedback and the suggestion. great idea.
We’ll work it into the next release. How would you want this to work though? There are a few options

    1. After the countdown it freezes the page and you can’t progress (not ideal, a bit unfair I think)
    2. After the countdown it auto submits the quiz, regardless of what you are doing. This makes more sense to me and mimics the ‘pens down’ approach to a real quiz.

    Comments?

Just reread your original idea – do you mean turn the question into ‘read only’ so they can’t actually tick any more radio buttons etc?

Well, if I had my druthers, your last option sounds good; no further answers are permitted; everything except the “Submit” button could become read-only.

In a perfect world, I’d like to be able to control this from the backend. I’d like to be able to make the timer either count-up or count-down, and I’d like to be able to make the timer not present, optional or mandatory for each particular test. i.e. If it’s optional, I’d like the user to be able to decide if he wants to use it or not.

Also, I’ve seen lots of timers that only seem to be able to count in seconds. I don’t suppose it’s too much to ask that the timer work with minutes and seconds?

I have to admit that I have very little idea about the relative complexity of the features I’ve detailed here. A simple stopwatch-like timer would do the trick, too!

Thanks again, and if this isn’t clear (either the what or the why), please let me know.

    Thanks Jeff,

Not sure what is possible with globally setting ‘read only’ to a form – I’m sure it is, but for the first draft may have to go with an ‘auto submit’ option until I figure things out.
timers would of course be in minutes and seconds.

I’ll have a chat with my co devs and let you know when we have an update. May be a few weeks.
