    Dear Jordan,

Force Refresh is a great plugin!
We are using it in marathon races to update live splits for runners.

My question: Would it be possible to reduce the refresh times further,e.g. from 30 seconds to 15 seconds or so. That would be very helpful for our application.

Thanks again for this great plugin!

    Helmut

    Hey Helmut,

Thanks for reaching out! I’m glad you’re finding the plug-in useful.

Currently, the only supported refresh intervals (the maximum amount of time before a page refreshes after an admin force refreshes a page or site) is 30 seconds, 60 seconds, 90 seconds, and 120 seconds. This means that every user on the site submits an HTTP request to the site to get the current version every 30, 60, 90, or 120 seconds.

The reason why admins must select from these times instead of specifying their own refresh interval is because if the interval is too low, it’s possible for sites with many users to overwhelm the server and actually timeout the site since requests to the WordPress ReST API are sent through a traditionally uncached route. So while it might be possible in the future to specify a custom refresh interval, 30, 60, 90, and 120 seconds are currently the only options.
