timezone mistake in opportunities

    I set the times according to my local time… e.g. 8am to 12pm
    This is what it shows in the “edit opportunity” admin page
    The server timezone setting is New York.

    Everything else in WordPress picks up the correct time (posts, edit, logins, etc)

    However, the volunteer opportunity backend listing, front end pages (and emails!) display the UTC time.

    This is a problem…. ??

    I’m sorry you’re running into issues @kindred. I know you mentioned the server timezone is set to New York, but what is the timezone setting on your WordPress installation? You can find this setting by logging into WordPress and going to Settings >> General >> find the “Timezone” setting. Sometimes an issue with that setting can be the cause here.

    Yes, just checked to confirm.

    WordPress > Settings > General — Timezone = New York

    Universal time (UTC) is 2018-10-01 12:29:46. Local time is 2018-10-01 08:29:46.

    But… I just realized — that’s wrong!!
    Local time is 2018-10-01 12:29:46
    so, for some reason my WordPress setting is picking up the local server time as the UTC time and is therefore applying an additional 4 hour difference to it!

    Thanks for looking into it a little further. This is most likely an issue with your hosting provider. It could be a plugin or something within WordPress, but that’s less likely.

    I’d recommend taking a look at https://wordpress.stackexchange.com/a/301400/26202 to see if that helps you figure it out.
