timthumb alternative?

  • timthumb is a great script for automatically generating images in various formats.
    But it is very resource intensive and makes webpages load slow.

    Optimizing it with cache and so on, does help improve it abit, but it is not a major improvement for serverload.

    Does anyone know a lite alternative to timthumb?
