• My tinyMCE editor gradually stopped working. First, it quit working on my work computer. Several days later, on my laptop. Finally, on my home office desktop.

    What happens is anything that calls a pop-up window (links, images), the box is blank. Further, I can’t close the box.

    My gut tells me a plugin is causing it however I’ve deactivated them all and still have the problem. Further, I put a fresh install on a subdomain and don’t have the problem.

    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    I can’t be the only one who has ever had this problem. Pretty please? ??

    I’m a WP noob so I can’t really help you, however, I was interested enough to do a quick search. Try a Google search on your issue or for that matter search the WP Archives as I did and it came up with a long list of tinyMCE editor problems, a few of which sounded like yours.

    sorry if you have already done this and no luck ??

    yes, thanks. I have researched here and on Google. None of the few solutions I’ve encountered work.

    I found an answer which worked for me on these posts somewhere. There was a line which needed commenting out in
    wp-includes/js/tinymce/tiny_mce_gzip.php

    the line was

    $supportsGzip = true;
    just commenting this line seemed to work. i.e.
    //$supportsGzip = true;
    I don’t know enough about code to know exactly why but it seemed to be a server compatibility problem. If I can find the post again I’ll let you know
