tinyMCE.settings has no properties

Can you help me please?

My Blog hasn’t WYSIWYG editor, so i tried to fix this problem but i couldn’t.
Firefox gave me this error message:

tinyMCE.settings has no properties

Experiencing the same problem. WordPress 2.3.2 with only the default plugins installed, no plugins activated. Firefox error console says:

Error: TinyMCE is not defined

Apache/1.3.33 (Darwin) PHP/5.1.2, register_globals off, safe_mode off.

In a different installation, it seems to work: same WordPress, Apache/2.2.4 (Ubuntu) PHP/5.2.3-1ubuntu6.3, register_globals off, safe_mode off.

There are some slight differences in the output of phpinfo() for each install, but i don’t really know what’s relevant and what’s due to different PHP versions or idiosyncratic packaging.

Helpful ideas would be … uh, helpful.

Long, hard search produced a result. Lots of folks seem to have been having this problem, in completely different versions of WordPress (2.0.x through 2.3.x), for over 11 months. Dozens of solutions appear, from disabling gzipSupport inside the tiny_mce_gzip.php file to stopping the Scriptaculous javascript library from loading.

None of those worked for me.

What worked for me (WordPress 2.3.2) was the following solution: https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/123892 .

(I named my function compat_realpath() and did some reformatting, but it’s essentially the same as muchachocolo’s code). Replacing calls to realpath() with calls to compat_realpath() and reloading ‘Write Post’ produced a WYSISOWYG editor toolbar and no more Javascript errors on the Firefox console.
