Title = Alt
-
Hi, your plugin solves a lot problems for me.
The only workflow I would like to have better is that when I type my Title this is also being my ALT. Do you know a solution for this?
-
I can probably do this but nobody asks me before and I will never use it neither…
Consider a donation for plugin and features you like, it always helps ?? Or you can also participate in the development. A plugin is a lot of work.
Hi,
I’m not that smart I can help you with development, sorry.
I think a lot of people use the same for alt and title, so please consider it as a feature request when you got time. One other question, your plugin did not work in my multisite install. Should your plugin work in multisite or do I have other problem?
Kindr regards,
Willem
I am also looking for this feature as I often have the same alt text as my image titles.
Well, I guess I can do something about it… but what about writing a nice review for the plugin at least since you seem to be satisfied users? That would motivate me to work on it more.
About Multi-Site apparently you said it works, right?
Hi, that’s would be great news. Will write a review. Multisite not working, but will test that later on fresh install, then I let you know.
Hi,
I actually also would love this feature!! I just installed your software and tried it. It basically works and does what promised, very nicely even.
But two additional things would be great:
– Have the opportunity to also set the alt tag. For example as https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/seo-image/ does (which doesn’t work in combination with my frontend)
– Also replace the slug and filename. Your plugin does a great job, but in the detail view of an image I noticed the slug is still the old name and the fileNAME as well. The file URL however is correct!
The problem is replacing the alt in all the pages and posts, this find and replace thing is always pretty dangerous and tricky… It’s much easier to change it in the media information, that is very easy to do.
Slug normally it does, but it’s an option (in settings).
The filename, it can’t. Originally I was doing it but it’s not a good practice. This filename that you see in the Media info is not the actual filename but just an internal unique ID to reference it. But it’s not used and is not seen anywhere else. The plugin shouldn’t change it because it can be used by any other plugin.
Hi Jordy,
Thanks for pointing us out on the settings for your plugin, never realized they were there ;-). However, I don’t even know where the slug is usefull for… so I never noticed this.
But I don’t understand, you tell the filename is not being changed, but where do you all see this filename?
For example, I gave an image this title:
Caesars Beauty Almere balie en koffiecorner
And the filename I see, mentions this:
File name: caesars-beauty-almere-balie-en-koffiecorner.jpg
is EXACTLY the same, so am I missing an other file name you all are talking about?
Kind regards,
Willem
Hi Jordy,
Sorry – missed the slug setting. I changed it directly; however now I can’t seem to rename already renamed files via the overview page as they all have the checkbox icon. Is there therefore a way to reset this, so I can re-rename these.
And thanks for the information about the fileNAME. So I guess this will always be the original name uploaded, but only for internet references.
Al least slug and fileURL are changed; that’s the main point.
I agree with you that replacing the ALT via the media information is the most simple and effective as this works with all themes and other plugins.
Would this be something you could offer as an additional setting?
Kind Regards and love your plugin. Its SEO heaven!
Hi guys, I still have the question about which file name you are talking, because the file name i see is exactly the same as explained in my previous reply. I read this in FAQ:
In the Media Library, the “File name” is wrong!
Yes, this is a WordPress issue. This “File name” doesn’t come from the real filename but from a database entry called GUID. This GUID should be unique and is only managed by WordPress. Before, the plugin used to modify this GUID accordingly but recently WordPress tries to prevent the plugins to do so. After some research, it appears that modifying this GUID is a very bad idea after all (please check this URL: https://pods.io/2013/07/17/dont-use-the-guid-field-ever-ever-ever/). Media File Manager will not do anything to the GUID from now.But again, which file name?
Ok, I now understand, I also see filename is not changing anymore.
Multisite not working, but will test that later on fresh install, then I let you know.
I tested it today, your plugin is working on multisite install, but is not working with:
– WooCommerce installed and/or
– WPML installedBecause of that, I can not use your plugin all the time :-(.
