Title bug in latest Gutenberg plug

  • A lot of press releases and articles arrive with two-line headlines like this:

    Puerto Rican Power: Pedraza Dominates Molina

    Ajagba Decisions Rice in Heavyweight Co-Feature

    I used to be able to cut & paste those two lines into the title field and the editor would eat the carriage returns. This is the way it should work. But now the editor does something like this (with the STRONG tags VISIBLE):

    Title: <strong> Puerto Rican Power: Pedraza Dominates Molina</strong)

    (and then the second line seems to go into a sub-head or something):

    Ajagba Decisions Rice in Heavyweight Co-Feature

    I’m bringing this up again because it’s still not fixed. Pasting a 2-line title exposes the HTML code and puts the second line down below. You need to strip out carriage returns from the title field.

    This is still broken. Programmers, you need to strip out all ASCII control characters when we paste text into the Title field. Somebody please report this and get it fixed. Thanks.

    I reported this bug months ago and its still not fixed.

    I cut & paste a title from an email and it looks like this:

    <strong>X Burlesque “Private Edition” opening at&nbsp;</strong><strong>Flamingo Las Vegas this Thursday, January 7&nbsp;</strong>

    All these tags need to be stripped out.

    How about fixing this? I’ve been asking for 6 months. For example, I just cut & pasted a title from another document. It come in like this:

    <strong>Resorts World Las Vegas Announces Retail Collection&nbsp;Featuring</strong><strong>Iconic Brands and&nbsp;Distinctive&nbsp;Shopping Experiences</strong>

    You need to strip out the non-ascii characters! Why won’t you fix this?
