I am using an event management plugin, EME, that works entirely on the basis of its own tables. An event is NOT merely a type of post. As a result, there is no way I can configure how Yoast SEO handles any of the event pages created by that plugin.
Unfortunately, Yoast is overwriting the title and the description tags for all the event pages. If I disable Yoast, those pages have the correct titles and descriptions, as assigned by EME.

So, my question is how to disable Yoast SEO’s overwriting the pages’ titles and descriptions.

You can set the title and meta description templates for your custom post types by going to SEO (sidebar) > Search Appearance > and locating the Events section. You can then choose to remove the template so it won’t overwrite what you’ve already set.

As I mentioned, the events are NOT custom post types. They are in an entirely different table. Your suggestion will not work.

You or your developer can use the wpseo_title filter to customize this feature for the event pages. Some example code snippets are here.

    Thank you for that.

I have the same question for the description tag. There doesn’t seem to be a wpseo_desc or wpseo_description filter, though. Can the description tag be surpressed?

    The description filter is wpseo_metadesc.
