• Hello,
I run several WordPress websites and cannot get the title tags for the home pages for these sites to render properly in Google. I believe this to be affecting search results for all of the sites. Currently, when the home page for any of my sites are rendered in a search result, Google will only display the site name. For example, a search for web design in Canton Ga will render my site as Underdog Marketing Solutions. even though I have entered Website Design Firm Canton Ga in the title tag field. Most of my sites have a static home page. I have tried several different solutions over the past few months without avail. The rest of my sites pages appear properly in the search results and they all have good SERPS. Do I need to create a separate static header for the static pages? I am lost! Thanks.. My main url is https://www.underdogmarkets.com

    Hi, there:

Sometimes Google will display “what it wants,” instead of what you assign…

To remedy this, make sure your title tags are under 55 characters in length. Also, if you too frequently update your title tags, Google may not spit out your latest update— and make sure there’s no duplicate title tags (or very, very similar ones).

EDIT: Navigate to SEO >> Titles & Metas >> Homepage. You should see this: “You can determine the title and description for the front page by editing the front page itself ?”

If so, go to your static page & set the title tag there.

    Hope this helps a bit.

@seanvandenberg thanks for the advice! I have tried various different solutions including ones similar to your suggestion and it’s wrecking my brain. My home page still renders just the name of my company in the search results.. I’ll retry your suggestion and give it a few weeks.

    Thanks

You’re welcome! I hope it really does help… I know how frustrating SEO can be. It’s paradoxical— seems simple, but can become annoyingly difficult & fickle…
