    Hi

I’m adding this plugin to a website for a DJ management agency. The event manager will produce a master list of all events the agency is booking. The agency is representing over 30 DJs and we want to be able to put a DJ-specific event calendar on the DJ’s personal page.

My thought was I should be able to achieve this by using either ‘Category’ or ‘Tag’ feature – but I’m not sure which one.

    Advice?

    Thanks!!

  • Hi,

There’s no real difference between the two, so you can use whichever you like. One way to do it would be to use categories for the DJs and tags for music types, if you need something like that. Just a thought.

    Todd:
With Event Categories, you get to use Description and Image fields which may be quite useful to display on your DJ pages.

    Placeholders: #_CATEGORYNOTES and #_CATEGORYIMAGE

Oh how I wish the hundreds of performing artists that I set up in Event Tags could have a description and photo on their individual Tag Pages!

Since I haven’t yet started working with this plugin, I’m not sure I understand the references you made.

You mention you’ve used this plugin for performing artists before. I’d love to see some of your implementations. Feel free to send me a message directly using my contact form (https://www.972creative.com/contact/).

@factchecker not 100% sure but pretty sure Pods may allow you to extend any taxonomy, including ours : https://www.ads-software.com/extend/plugins/pods/

if you can code, then this is certainly possible ??

Pods will let you extend any Post Type or Taxonomy, so yes that’s true. To add fields to taxonomies, you’ll need to enable the Table Storage component from Pods Admin > Components in order for Pods to allow you to extend the taxonomy.
