    Hi @ohwowx ,

Thank you for reaching out and for your kind words about the plugin! We’re happy to hear it’s working great for your website.

Regarding the issue with the Table of Contents (ToC) appearing in the auto-generated excerpts, we’d like to gather a bit more information to assist you better:

Could you let us know which method you’re using to generate the excerpts? For example, WordPress’s automatic excerpts, a custom excerpt field or a plugin that generates or manages excerpts?

Is the ToC being added automatically to all posts, or is it manually inserted into the content?

Once we have these details, we’ll be able to provide a tailored solution to resolve this for you.

    Looking forward to your response!

    Hi,
    Thanks for replying

Currently the website use WordPress’s automatic excerpts without any custom field or plugin, and the ToC is being added automatically to all posts that have 2 o more titles.

Let me know if you need more details, I’ll be waiting for your kind response.

    Hi @ohwowx ,

Thank you for providing the additional details—they’re very helpful!

I was able to reproduce the issue, and I’ve created an internal report for our Development team. They are actively working on a fix for this to ensure that the Table of Contents (ToC) is not included in the auto-generated excerpts.

In the meantime, I wanted to let you know that this issue only occurs when the ToC is placed at the top of the content. You can resolve this by moving the ToC to the default position, which is Before first heading. Here’s how you can do this:

    1. Navigate to Settings > ToC+ in your WordPress Dashboard.
    2. In the Position drop-down, select Before first heading (default).
    3. Click the Update Options button to save your changes.

This will prevent the ToC from being included in your excerpts while we work on a permanent solution.

Please let me know if you have any further questions or if there’s anything else I can assist you with. I’ll keep you updated on the progress of the fix.

    Hi @shivamtyagi,

Thank you so much for your kind reply!

I followed your advice, but unfortunately, it’s still not working. The excerpt in the related posts is displaying the table of contents at the begining of the text.

Do you know of any other ways to resolve this issue?

    Hi @ohwowx ,

Thank you for getting back to me and for sharing the screenshots—it really helps!

I see what’s happening now. The issue persists because your content starts with a heading instead of a paragraph. Since the Table of Contents (ToC) is placed before the first heading, and there’s no introductory text before the heading, it’s still getting included in the auto-generated excerpt.

Regardless, I’ve raised an internal issue with our Development team, and we’ll be working on a fix for this to ensure that the ToC doesn’t appear in excerpts, even in cases like this.

For now, a temporary workaround would be to add a small introductory paragraph at the beginning of your posts before the first heading. This would push the ToC further down and prevent it from being included in the excerpt.

Let me know if you have any questions and I’ll be happy to help you!
