  • Most problems like this seem to be theme conflicts. Does it work OK with TwentyTwelve?

Post up your URL so we can take a look

    The URL is amaliallc.com.

It’s a custom theme with specialized functionality, and is a live client site, so I prefer not to switch themes during daytime hours. The framework I used is Murtaugh html5 reset theme. She had an event yesterday that displayed correctly, not removing the event on the day of, but some events last week were problematic. The problem is not consistent.

I’m using event categories as well. Not sure if that is causing any disruption. I just looked at the categories and the event that wasn’t working had two categories marked and the event that displayed correctly had one category. FYI.

Let me know if you’d like any further info.

Hey Betsy, my guess here is that this is almost certainly on the theme (having event categories shouldn’t cause any disruption). It’s going to be tough to diagnose if you’re not able to turn that theme off for testing purposes, but I can understand your position if it’s a live site.

Have you reached out to the theme developer on this? We’re happy to provide them with any information they made need and if they’re able to identify something we’re doing wrong in the code, we’ll definitely try to get it patched.

Let me know. The best first step would probably be testing on Twenty Twelve, even if it’s just for a few seconds. Thanks for your patience so far.

I am having this same issue. of course this is referring to a single event view, because in event list view or calendar view the “this event has passed.” message does not display.

I tried Twenty Twelve and it has the same error.

Plus, what is the point of showing the current date/time in the field “Date” on the single event view? That field should refer to the start and end date/time of the event, I believe.

You’re seeing the same problem in 2012, innoitc? That’s weird as I’m not seeing this on my local environment with the same setup: Events 2.0.10, WP 3.5 and the latest Twenty Twelve theme. As I mentioned in the other thread, what you’re experiencing is not intended behavior.

What are your time zone settings? I’ll try to recreate those to see if I’m in the same boat as you. In your testing, once you’ve reverted to Twenty Twelve, please deactivate any other plugins you’ve got to make sure we aren’t facing a conflict on that end.

Once I hear back from you I’ll troubleshoot as needed. Cheers!

I am in Pacific Time Zone (GMT -8). In my cPanel WHM I set it to Los Angeles. For the WordPress site, I set it also to Los Angeles time Zone.

Ah, got it. That’s odd as that’s the same setup I had and I wasn’t experiencing your problem. I would totally be willing to keep looking into this for you, but since it sounds like via the other thread you’ve moved on, I’m going to abandon it unless you disagree.

Thanks for the follow-up, in either case. Going to keep an eye on this and will refer to it again if other reports from users in a similar boat come forward.

    Hey Roblagatta,

Thanks for your responses. I finally have time to set up a testing environment today, so I will let you know what I find.

I’ve not reached out to the theme author of the blank theme, as I’ve not really pinpointed what it is they would need to look into…

I’ve now set up a testing site with a different website, but one that uses the very same blank them as the amaliallc one I mentioned previously (and which is a copy of a live site that was having the same problem) I updated the plugin on the test so it will have the same version of the plugin as the amalia site.

Currently my test event for today is showing. I’ve got test events for the next couple of days, and will watch to see if they are working. If current day events disappear, I will then try 2011 theme.

the url for the test site is https://wemn.backenweb.com/events/upcoming/

After updating the plugin, I’m seeing some new strange plugin behaviors, but I will start a new post since I don’t think they are related to the current day’s event not showing.

I am experiencing the same issue even on my local environment with the 2012 theme active and all other plugins disabled. Bellow is a link to my version live on a custom theme.

    (overall love the plugin)

Hey again Betsy. I am indeed seeing the problem you reported on that test URL there; any chance you ever had the opportunity to test on Twenty Eleven or Twenty Twelve? Would love to hear the results on that end so we could conclusively know where the issue resides.

Ryland666: is it possible this issue has been resolved on your side? When i check out the site link you provided there, it looks like all past events are appearing on the /past events page, and the /events page (upcoming) shows truly upcoming events. Let me know if I’m wrong on that end and I’ll take another look.

Thanks to everyone for their patience so far on this. Let me know about the above and I’ll do what I can to troubleshoot.

OK, I just tried it in 2011, and the problem of moving the meta items up to the top disappeared.

Any ideas how I can resolve the theme conflict? I can let you take a look at the code if you like. I will switch back to the custom theme right now so we can all look at the problem.

    (@roblagatta)

Betsy: providing specific integration guidance with a custom theme is going to be tough here on the dot-org forum, and I just checked out the PRO forum to see if anyone had reported problems with this Murtaugh framework…and no luck. Have you already reached out to the theme dev to see if they have any ideas on this end? I know it’s not particularly useful, but that unfortunately may be the best course of action at this time.

The other option would be to go PRO, where we can provide a greater degree of support and could look into this for you. (If we didn’t resolve the issue to your liking, we’d certainly give you a full refund non questions asked). Hope that helps and sorry I can’t be more helpful.
