• Hey Guys,

Just wondering if anybody could help me with my problem. My site is nearing completion so I’m in the process adding the final touches. I’m trying to make the “Login” & “Sign up” buttons in the top right hand side of my header toggle to “Logout” & “My Account” once users login to my site. I was thinking that I could probably do this by adding extra buttons that are hidden when not logged in that would switch once the user logs in. However I am not that great with coding and was wondering if anybody could help me achieve this.

My site can be found here.

    Thanks in advance

  • This is exactly what you want, I have used it many times for just this reason:

    Thanks for the reply Innuvo,
I have installed the plugin and while it is spot on for the menu nav, the buttons that I would like to apply this to are not part of the menu nav (unless I have missed the part where I can include they buttons in the menu-nav).

I have figured out how to add the extra buttons but need to figure out how to apply the toggles.

Regardless of anything I really appreciate the suggestion.

What I did, was create a menu for the header area which had 3 links.

Login | My Account | Logout

My Account and logout were hidden until they were logged in (the option you can change on Appearance >> Menu option) and then I hid “login” for logged in users.

So the roles you need to assign would be:

    “Login/Register” – Logged Out
    “Logout” – Logged in
    “My Account” – Logged in

    Hopefully that makes sense?

I’ll apologise in advance if I’m missing something here but I’m very new to web design.

If I’m understanding correctly, this will just add links to the area of the page that I am talking about. This is great! But the only part I’m not understanding is how those “Links” will interact with my current buttons?

As I said, I already have buttons to “login” and “Sign up” and am happy with the look and feel. All I want is for those same buttons to change (or hide to show other hidden buttons) “my account” & “logout” once the user logs in.

Can’t I do this with this plug in and If so, how?

If not could anybody help me with hiding/ showing the said button upon login/logout???

Ah sorry, I thought they were menu items that needed changing, rather than just generic buttons on the site.

are these buttons in the top bar or somewhere you could just create a menu within? Thus loading a menu in their positions, but then user the plugin i said to control them not showing etc?

Or are they just links that you have placed within some content?

I am using the Tesseract Theme which has the option to display these buttons in the right side header. I have just place the links inside the buttons, but like I said I really like the look and feel. While I am glad that I have the option to do this easily with the plugin and links, I would prefer to show/ hide my buttons when users log in or out.
