Toggle visibility password

A year and 11 months ago, enelleryx117 asked if it was possible to place a checkbox on the login form, to make the password visible to the user entering it.
It was not possible by then.
Has that changed in the meantime?
With the growing necessity for long, and complex passwords, the need for that option is growing, too.

Any chances?
