tons of redirects

Can you post some of the logs here so I can have a look into it? Basically I only do very few redirects (when creating/deleting/moving content or marking everything as read). Maybe it is some incompatibility with another plugin, some ajax-stuff of your theme, etc. I never heard about redirect-problems before.

that’s what i thought as well. i’m not really a developer and don’t want to dive into this. the best option i can think of is to install asgaros on a subdomain to isolate it with other plugins.

i really love this plugin that i’m willing to do this ha ha ha

ok. so i’ve been able to export to csv the wp_forum_posts and there were TONS.. i mean TONS of spam post.. more than 100,000+ that looks like this. i didn’t see these posts. how did they even end up there? no wonder the whole site went down.

update: so i was able to remove all “hidden” spam posts.. and now it’s back online.

it looks like that the spammers found a way to spam asgaros-based forums ?? would be awesome if we ca find a way to stop them, even if we allow guest posting…

You had guest-postings enabled? Do they only create posts or also topics? Is it possible that you could post me a data-dump of the rows which were inserted into your database? I will try to figure out whats going on and fix this in the upcoming release.

yes, guest posting is enabled and they can create/reply as they pleased, but they’ve targeted a single post and made thousands of replies.

right now, i’ve enabled the catpcha for guests and increased my security settings in cloudflare to detect the spammers.

i don’t have the data dump anymore, sorry.

Also might want to explore Akismet and WP Bruiser plugins for tough post security.

Just for your information: By accident I found out that your forum was not going slow because of spam-bots but instead of some performance drops caused when there are many topics/posts inside the forum. That means: In the future when your forum will have many posts that problem would occur again anyway.

But …

I made changes to some queries so that should be fixed in the upcoming release. ??
