• It would be a great improvement, if wc would not only try to meet the needs of many different store scenarios, but also try to emphasize on performance. Over the years wc has become larger and larger. But many features are not really relevant to a simple and straight forward shop. The recent update for instance enqueues a ton of scripts, unless Order attribution under Avanced > Functions is unchecked. These scripts have a bad effect on performance and i guess not everybody will really make any use of this feature. Aiming at a maximum performance, I imagine a configuration feature, that allows shopkeepers to download only what they really need. A modular approach that can be altered when the needs evolve. regards TO

    Howdy @timholz,

Thanks for taking the time to share some feedback!

Is there anything in particular which you consider to be bulky or making WooCommerce not lightweight? I’d be happy to hear more about that.

hi @max – woocommerce is one of the heaviest plugins for wp. It comes with a lot of stuff, that is not necessarily needed for a simple shop. I would make a configuration tab for the plugin. According to the needs the plugin could then be tailored modularly to perform optimized. regards TO

    Hey @timholz,

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us!

WooCommerce has indeed evolved significantly over time, incorporating a wide range of features and capabilities in response to the demands and feedback we’ve received from our community. Our goal is to provide a robust, ready-to-use solution that enables new store owners to set up their eCommerce shop effortlessly. For instance, WooCommerce includes five different product types right out of the box, catering to the general requirements of an e-commerce shop.

While WooCommerce aims to be as flexible and adaptable as possible, we also encourage the use of extensions and customizations to tailor the store to specific needs. This modular approach allows users to enhance their store’s functionality according to their unique requirements without overwhelming the core plugin.

We hear your concern regarding the plugin’s weight and the desire for a more tailored, modular approach to its features. The development team continually strives to optimize WooCommerce, maintaining a balance between simplicity and functionality. The new features and optimization process is guided largely by user feedback, which has shown a diverse range of needs—from those who seek a more lightweight solution to others who request additional features within the core plugin.

And, based on the feedback, new additions are made to the plugin to facilitate the needs of the evolving eCommerce market! This ensures that WooCommerce remains adaptable and relevant, providing value to both new and established store owners alike.

Thank you again for your feedback. If you have any more suggestions or need further assistance, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us!

    Agree with the author.
Just by activating this plugin, the load increased 3 times even on pages not related to the shop. That’s definitely too heavy and unusable for a simple shop.

    Hi @blink7,

Thank you very much for replying in this thread and I’m sorry to hear about the slowness you mentioned.

That’s odd. We’d be happy to assist you in addressing this issue, however, I’ll have to ask you to create a new support thread.

Despite any similarity in symptoms, your issue may be different because of possible differences in physical servers, accounts, hosts, plugins, theme, configurations, etc.

Would it be possible to create a new topic by clicking here and linking this thread so we can proceed with further investigating this? ??
