The new Gutenberg editor completely negates the whole point of using WordPress for my clients. I could tell them via a short email how to create and edit pages and posts. Now it needs a long training session. Except it won’t because, like over a million others, I am using the Classic Editor plugin to keep it simple.

Hello @acoggins, I’m sorry to hear that you aren’t having a better experience with Gutenberg. Is there something in particular that you find too complicated when it comes to creating and editing pages or posts? If you have extra details to share, that would be really helpful!

    Hi Angela.

The problem is the whole Gutenberg writing process is unfamiliar and unintuitive. My clients are used to a very standard and common approach – it is a process they use every day in many other areas of computing like word processors, emails, etc. Even this box I’m typing in now is the same. There is a text box and you type in text. You can highlight and format words if you want, but it’s a simple box for typing in. It has become the standard for a very good reason… why try and reinvent it?

None of my clients are interested in designing fancy layouts. And I wouldn’t let them anyway. They just want to be able to go in and type something. Maybe stick a picture in and decide if it is left or right justified. That’s it. And I’m not willing to donate my time in retraining them in how to muddle around in Gutenberg, and then follow up whenever they make a mess of things.

Anyway, thanks for your concern but I’ve now migrated all my clients off WordPress.
