• No documentation, has a hopeless video which seems to be for an older version. Generated QR code can’t be scanned by phone camera or multiple QR code apps. I have no idea how to generate a shortcode for it in any case.

I’ve now tried Kaya QR Code Generator which does the job well (apart from not supporting a company logo).

    Hey @dbareis,

    thanks for your review!

It looks like you got a hard time setting up Qyrr. Sorry for that!

The video is pretty up to date, and there are docs available here: https://patrickposner.dev/qyrr/docs/

Maybe your website is blocking the Block Editor (Gutenberg)? So that you didn’t see the actual UI?

    Shortcode:

You can copy the shortcode from the “Download” tab (it’s already pre-generated based on your QR Code), but I agree that this could be easier – the main “problem” is that we are focussing on the Block Editor and not the Classic Editor.

While we still support it in some way, we don’t pay much attention to it anymore – in that case, something like Kaya might be easier as they never aimed to be compatible with the new WordPress and still use shortcodes for everything.

I’m glad you found something better suited for your project!

    Cheers,
    Patrick

Thanks for the response. If the documentation is mentioned in the plugin info (or anywhere else) I didn’t see it.

The video showed a sample QR code which I assume was installed, I didn’t have that. It also shows a shortcode section which I didn’t seem to have.

When I did generate a shortcode, it could not be read by QR code readers.

I am using OceanWP theme which I believe is block, I’m a relatively new WP user but I have made my most important pages dynamic in any case.

    Hey @dbareis,

    thanks for your reply!

I released a new update now which specifically tackle the problems you have faced:

    1. There is now a dedicated “Shortcode” tab when editing a QR-Code
    2. The default values for the generation are now better to make sure the QR-Code works out of the box when scanning (even with a logo added)
    3. The documentation is now linked from the settings sidebar (Qyrr->Settings) for easier access.

    Cheers,

    Patrick
