• Hi
This might seem like a repetitive topic but I haven’t found a solution in any of the topics I visited. My website is generating 50+ 404 hits every day. I have checked the log but they are completely random html pages that I have no idea how to fix. ANY help would be highly appreciated. This is the link to my website:

  • Looking at the ones you showed… It almost looks like either a search engine spider OR a bot trying to scrape your site looking for exploitable things…

Like, why is there so much looking for “install.php”… I suspect the second tbh. And sadly, there is nothing that can be done about that…

I use WordFence to block them, but they still happen on a daily basis.

Edit: unless you have users complaining… But, I clicked a bit around on your website and didn’t notice any 404 errors.

Thanks for replying. I wasn’t expecting a useful answer so soon. I do have wordfence installed and it does report a lot of attacks but i had no idea these kinds of errors could be a result of bots. And as far as I know no actual users have landed on 404 pages. GSC is also ok. So I guess it’s bots.

Is there anything else i should be checking?
