    Hi,

My server provider (WP Engine) says my website is using too many server resources and found the problem is due to the simple-history plugin. This is what they wrote:

“Many admin ajax request coming from your site. These admin ajax request are categorized as uncache’d request which does utilize server resources to complete the request.

Within these admin ajax request I did find a specific query string coming after the admin ajax request under the name SimpleHistoryNewRowsNotifier&apiArgs.
When searching for this specific action it was able to lead us towards the plugin named simple-history.

A recommendation towards this plugin is if available to reach out to the plugin developer.
This can assist with if a setting can be done to minimize the amount of admin ajax calls or possibly removed entirely.”

Can you please help us with that? How can we reduce the ajax requests?

    Thanks…

If the wp admin dashboard is open or if the Simple History page is opened then the plugin checks for new events using ajax calls. So my guess is that you or another user have the dashboard on the plugin log page opened all the time or for longer times in a browser.

You can solve this by closing all tabs that have the dashboard or the plugin page opened. You can also in the settings page disable the log from being visible on the dashboard, so if that page is opened it will not check for new events.

    Hope this helps!
