    Hi,

UpdraftPlus is keeping between 40-50 full backups on my server, even though I have the settings configured to make daily backups of files and DB and only retain 7.

Anyone know what might be wrong?

When the disk gets full, WordPress crashes.

Is this a known issue? I don’t see any mention of it in the 2.14.4.0 release notes.

    Thanks!

    Hi,

Please could you send us a copy of the latest backup log? This can be found in the Existing Backups tab.

The contents will be too long to post here directly, but you can use an online service such as Pastebin, and post the link here

    Hi,

The log file was too large for Pastebin without a Pro account. I’ve uploaded it here and will remove it in a week’s time.

Thanks for taking a look and letting me know what you find!

    Cheers!

    Hi,

The log shows “0147.346 (0) Prune old backups from local store: nothing to do, since the user disabled local deletion and we are using local backups”

It appears that the ‘Delete local backups’ option has been disabled so UpdraftPlus is not able to delete or prune backup stored on your local server.

To enable, go to UpdraftPlus ‘Settings’ tab > ‘Show expert settings’ > deselect ‘Delete local backup’ and make sure to click the ‘Save Changes’ after.

    Kind Regards,
    Bryle

    Hi Bryle,

That must be it! I didn’t notice that “Show expert settings” link before. The box was deselected, so I have ticked it now and I expect the retention policy to work as expected on local storage.

Thanks so much for your help! I’ll inform you if this doesn’t work for some reason, but I imagine this should do the trick.

    Cheers and thanks again,
    Jesse
