• Hello there.

It just happened. In midst of working on my site, I was locked out and the information is:
too many failed login attempts – why did this happen? And where can I set the number of logins higher?

    Thanks for your support,
    best, Nursah

Ok.. so I wait till tomorrow and log then in.. IThemes is deleted definitely and the S2 setting I’ll check out.. I install the plugin you mentioned and hope it will not happen again.. do you know of other plugins which cause that issue? Or do you think with installing Aryo or simple history and/or Plainview- I’ll find out for the future?

I think that installing a login plugin will make it pretty clear in future what the culprit is if it happens again.

As for now, if you have any other plugin that deals with security or logins, then I’d be taking a long, hard look at it. No other sort of plugin should have this effect.

Hello KTS915 – I didn’t had the time to install the plugins you mentioned.. I’ll do that right after you say it.. When I can login..
It happened again.. I have to wait another 11 hours.. Can you please tell me where exactly I find the settings in S2Member and what exactly I must set? That would be very kind.. Thank you… I really am struggling with this.. I have password protected found in my ftp I definitely have that check-out as well.. Thank you for your help.. I think I will master it, one time.. LOL ;)))

If it is a setting in s2member that is causing your problem, you can find it in s2Member -> Restriction Options -> Unique IP Restrictions

You should set that to Allow Infinite IPs

Ok thanks. I’ll do it as soon as I can login. Thanks a lot. :))

    Or is WooCommerce doing this?

First, could you post here the exact message you get when you attempt to log in, and could you also post the last part of the URL (i.e. the part after https://www.yoursitename.com)?

    (@phenomenae)

The message is: ERROR: Too many failed login attempts. Please try again in 21 hours.

The last part of the URL is: /wp-login.php?redirect_to=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.phenomenae.com%2Fwp-admin%2F&reauth=1

    (of phenomenae dot com)

Thank you very much for your help!!!!!

Well, that’s not an s2Member redirect.

Have you have set up some sort of redirection for the login page? Do you know what that might be?

    (@phenomenae)

No that’s the point – I have absolutely no idea. I just deleted another plugin: password protection. That’s also I said you might login to my https://ftp..? To see whether you see there sth more than me?

Just taken a look at your home page. You have a ton of things going on there! I also saw that your host is WP Engine. You really should talk to them and make them earn their money! They will be able to sort this out faster than anyone here.

Ok thanks a lot! I’ll do that definitively. I let you know. ;))

BTW: What you mean by a ton? Is it somehow too much?
