• I’m not even sure where to begin to get this into the right hands but hopefully one of the moderators hill has some connections ??

Basically the WP plugins repo is in some serious need of a clean-up. And the easiest way I can think of is a “renew it or lose it” policy. I’m confident we could clear out thousands of “crap” or “expired” plugins if there was a renewal process in place.

Thanks for listening and passing this along!

  • actually work will start soon on an overhaul of the repository

I wouldn’t want all the plugins that haven’t been renewed to be deleted from the site. Moving them away from the main location would be fine, but I’d still like to be able to look through them.

i agree with copperblade, as so i agree with cartpau.. dont remove, but certainly put in a different category away from the ones that are relevant and stuff..

    +1 for this.

They could create an archive section of the repository where plugins that haven’t been updated in over 6 months (or 1 year) could be automatically moved into.*

Then any searches performed for plugins would not get from this archive section unless specifically set by the user.

*Special exemptions for plugins that are proven to work with any version of WP.
