    Hi all,
I’m having issues with my website host. The site is constantly going down. According to the hosts the site is going down (database server connection error) because of too many plugins, however I only have 2 or 3 plugins activated. The hosts are saying it’s causing too many database quiries.

Is this normal or should I move hosts?

The question isn’t really whether you have too many plugins, it’s do you have even one badly written (or poorly configured) plugin that is the source of your issues.

Try installing and running this plugin profiler, which might be able to tell you which plugin is the resource hog:

Once you have identified the problem plugin, you can usually find another plugin that does the same/similar thing that will make the queries it needs more efficiently.

    Thanks for that.

Sadly everything seems to have gone up in the air. It appears my hosts have accidently deleted my SQL database and a few ftp folders, including my back ups

Ouch! Sorry to hear that! Sounds like it might be time for a new hosting company…
