• My site has a current total of 280k posts. They are all pure text, with many quite small.
I update several hundred a day, and add perhaps a hundred new posts per day.

The site contains legal case references – one case, one post. I still have a further 220k candidates to be added over time.

I recently hit a problem with the updater plugin demanding more memory than my host will provide.

I need to start by understanding the structures here. What is it that is demanding the memory? I imagine that the updater program – which no doubt checks proposed updating posts against the titles of existing posts – creates a list of the existing posts in order to check incoming updating records againat existing ones. Is it likely to be that list which is causing the crash?

    Thank you:
    wp all import

I suspect however that it is a matter of principle. If I am right then a similar aapproach is liable to be taken by other plugins tackling the same task.

I cannot imagine someone wanting to redo an entire plugin just for me. It may be that I need an entirely different approach. To get a starting point I need to understand better where the problem may be.

So is it correct that are you using this plugin (https://www.wpallimport.com/) to bulk import posts from an xml, excel or csv file, and the plugin is requesting more memory to complete the request?

Perhaps the plugin support could best advise if you merely need more memory allocated, or if there is a need to categorise in a more granular way so there are fewer posts for each category, to add additional taxonomies to help ease the database queries.

If you’re using the paid version, please use their official support channel. We feel they are best equipped to support their products.

Commercial products are not supported in these forums.

If the free version, I recommend asking at https://www.ads-software.com/support/plugin/wp-all-import/#new-post so the plugin’s developers and support community can help you with this.

I am not sure that I have explained myself. I cannot see how the categories have any relevance. The updates are done on a per post basis without referencevto categories at all.

To be fair to the authors, I cannot see that they should support a user who is not paying, but equally, there is no point me paying for something that in principle is not going to work.

Which is why I come back again to generalising the question. If te approach taken by wpallimport is a standard and obvious way then moving to a different plug in is likely to have the same difficulty.
