@ajayrds are you using any membership plugin or are you simply using WordPress default registration process?

The default registration process, I have a plugin (Ultimate facebook) to allow using facebook to sigup.

Can you check to see if you have the following enabled Enable Pingback Protection: under Firewall -> Basic Firewall Rules?

It was not, enabled it now.

If it was not enabled and you have enabled it now it should create another level of security. Can you report back to let us know if your spam has been reduced.

Also if you have a membership website it is important to set up proper security and a good membership plugin. This can help you manage your members and protect your website at the same time. WordPress registration has limitations even though it is set up for membership.

Thanks, will report back in a few days.
I was under the impression that the default registration would be enough, and did not want another plugin as I already have quite a few installed. But will check for one now.

Have you also tried the “Enable manual approval of new registrations” feature in the “User Registration” menu?
This will at least automatically leave their accounts disabled until you manually approve them.

    Thank you.
I will prefer to not do that because that will make the experience less than ideal for real users. I still am getting spam registrations. Would it be possible to integrate recaptcha into the plugin, perhaps there are ways to beat numeric captcha?

@ajayrds did you also check to see if a membership plugin is ideal for you?

No, i haven’t. I’ll do that too. THank you.
