Too many tags and cannot edit

  • I have recently noticed that Simple Tags is

    1. Adding more tags than I want to my posts, and
    2. I am unable to edit those tags when I want to remove them

    When I create all of a post’s content, I then run Simple Tags. I choose some, but not all of the tags, they get added to the post and then I publish. I’ve noticed lately that tags are added to the post that I did not select.

    When I then try to edit the tags (either by removing them in the editor, or doing it later using quick edit), it does not remove the tags.

    The only way I can remove tags is to deactivate Simple Tags, remove the tags, update the post and then reactivate the plugin.

    I have not added any new plugins lately that would have caused a change in the function of Simple Tags. The only change lately was to migrate to the Twenty Fourteen theme.

  • Same thing is happening here.
    Not only too many tags, but also too many words used as a tag.
    Even small words like “why” “the” “in” are used for auto tagging, and there’s no way to delete them.
