Its 3.7.4, actually. When I have a large footnote of 500 characters or so, the data is published live on the page, following the (( switch. It is also published in the footnote/reference section, as it should be. B

But I want to be able to publish up to 500 WORDS in the yellow pop-up box and that much weight seems to break the plugin. Some of my writing requires information that clarifies things for readers who lack the back ground. Some readers do not need the pop-up data, so to conserve time for them, I need a pop-up solution and footnotes is pretty good for that purpose, with the reference section as a bonus.

A follow up. Testing limitations indicates that the error takes place when there is a hard enter in a string of text, as when you hit ENTER to begin a new paragraph. That seems to break it and dump the text into the clear.

    Hi Trinity7,

thanks for bringing this limitation to our attention and for taking the time to test this limitation and writing about it on the forums.

We have to think about this one and how to solve it. You hit a very strong point however with the background info and I’m sure your idea is very valid.
So there has to be a graphical representation of this is well. 500 Words is a lot to digest for a reader, so the popup should definitely feature a close button as well…

Would you be willing to test a beta of this, as soon as we publish a specific version for you?

    Stay tuned.

    Hi guys,

we have published a new version right now. Now you will be able to shorten your mouse-over box after xxx characters (default: 150 characters) to only show an excerpt of your footnotes text in the mouse-over box. You will still get the full footnotes text in the reference container linked with each footnote index inside your post.

Hi, I’m having the same problem of having long footnotes and wanting to add a “break” [enter] so the footnote at the bottom that appears in reference is not one very long paragraph but has multiple paragraphs in the footnote. But when I hit enter inside the (( [enter] )) the plugin thinks I’m reverting back to the body of the text.

    Example:
    ((text text text [enter] text2 text2 text2))

    the refernce has
    1. text text text
    but
text2 text2 text 2 appears in the body of the blog.

is there a solution for this yet?
    thanks for the help.
