• Ok. So I have to make an account first at WordPress.com ? Too many steps. I just wanted to connect my WordPress site to Google ads, not create yet another account somewhere. Just for login in to Google I have to write password + get sms with a code and write that also. I’m not going to create yet another account somewhere. Too much work for too little.

    Hi there,

Thanks for your feedback and honest review of Google Listing & Ads. Google Listings & Ads does require connecting to a WordPress.com account to link your site to Merchant Center. If you already use Jetpack on your site, you can use the same connection. You won’t need to log in to WordPress.com to manage the extension settings or create ads once connected. The connection allows you to use the Content API to share a feed of your products with Merchant Center.

I suggest looking into alternate options, such as uploading an XML feed. to Google, instead.

Thank you for your answer. I just can’t figure out why Google make everything a hassle? When we learned to develop software-systems, it was all about user friendliness (ease of use). It should not be difficult at all. Google should be able to scrap all the products from the WordPress site. They got billions to play with. It’s a mystery to me that they cant make something smooth.

Also a problem for me is to connect all different accounts because I am making this online store for a client. So not sure how well that goes? And I don’t want to call up my client and tell them to make accounts here and there.

    Hi @nettpro,

Syncing the product data from the store to Google Merchant Center via the content API is much more reliable when compared to scraping. This is why this method is used by Google Listings & Ads.

Also a problem for me is to connect all different accounts because I am making this online store for a client. So not sure how well that goes? And I don’t want to call up my client and tell them to make accounts here and there.

You could create a Google account for the client site and perform the necessary connections using the account for them. Having a Google account for the site is also a good practice. (Anyone maintaining the site at any time would only need access to the account).
