• This plugin worked great on localhost, and the download pages looked great, too. But once I added it on my production site, every other save or page load would give me a database connection error. Eventually, the site wouldn’t load at all–even another site, under another domain, on the same hosting plan was hosed. I have now wasted hours on this, and will be forced to call my host’s tech support. I would give this NO starts if I could!

Extremely sorry for your trouble whatever reason was there. If is works in localhost there is no reason to take down your website. This plugin can’t be a cause of database conn error, probably your sql server was down or any other server related issue. However if you think, download manager caused this issue we could check it and help your there. In any issue, it is better to ask for support at least once rather then writing a bad review :). Actually, the plugin doesn’t take down website, otherwise 1000s of users couldn’t use it.

This is the type of review which should not be allowed on this site. @jheikes obviously has zero experience and [moderated] to be bad mouthing someone due to her [moderated] Please wordpress, do something to improve your rating systems!

Actually this review is perfectly fine and there was no need for your personal insults, Joshua.

This is in no way an insult, its more of a complaint.

I have been using this site and its reviews for 10+ years, and with the recent load of unqualified reviews, its almost useless to use them these days.

How does wordpress plan to handle these? This review is completely user issue and nothing to do with the plugin.

Someone had a bad experience with the plugin and documented their bad experience in a review. The reviews are only there to inform the author that something went wrong. There isn’t an issue here.

You will have an issue with the review system if you’re using it as a way of gaining income – then moderators see authors complaining about unfair reviews. Otherwise it really doesn’t matter. Move on, it’s just one person’s experience.
