Toolbar style changed after upgrading to 2.9.42

I just upgraded the Download Manager plugin from 2.9.4 to 2.9.42. The compact toolbar with pull-down menus for Asc/Desc order and Order By Title/Date have changed to a full page-width toolbar that I do not like.
How do I restore my toolbar to the compact toolbar that I had with 2.9.4? I am using the [wpdm_category] shortcode.
