• Hi,
I’d like to pick the brains of the WordPress experts here. I’m working on creating a personal portfolio site for my Graphic design work and so far I’ve been able to set things up the way I want. However, coming from behance, there’s a feature I’m not quite sure how to replicate on my site. I want to add a “Tools Used” Section to the portfolio posts. That is a section where the softwares and tools used in a project can be listed preferably on the side bar of the page. I’d also like to be able to display the name and icon of the listed softwares. Just like you’d find on any project page on behance.net. I know the simplest way is just to make it part of the post but it can lead to inconsistencies.
How would you approach this kind of problem?

  • Do you have a mockup or screenshot of what you are trying to achieve? Are you going for the exact layout of behance?

I would custom code the post template file and use CSS to position the sections and custom fields to select the tool icon. If you do it correctly there will be no inconsistencies as everything you see on the screen is controlled by CSS.

Sidebar content is the same on every post/page it would be very difficult to have the sidebar content to change based on the tools used per post.

I’m dreadfully sorry for the late reply. I must have missed the email notification.
    Thanks for your input.
Here’s a screenshot of what I have in mind.

I want to be able to checkmark the tools used while creating the post.
