    I don’t have any posts live yet with the Footnote plug-in yet, I’m just writing my first serious post using it.

    I use a black theme, with white text by default, headings in green.

    Footnotes works great, and is much better than trying to do the same thing manually. My problem though is that the tooltip default or used as ((Reference goes here/tooltip)) does not show up.

    Here is an image link to show the problem. I’m sure this just needs some CSS or similar, advice?

    The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    @4msc,

    Apologies for misconfiguring the defaults. While the text color uses the theme’s default color, the tooltip background is set to white. To fix the bug, please clear the background color in Tooltip appearance under the Referrers and tooltips tab in Footnotes’ settings.

    Previously, the tooltips had a Shalimar colored background that was mostly disliked. To fix it, I’ve set it to white with this rationale: “The mouse over box shouldn’t feature a colored background by default, due to diverging user preferences. White is neutral.” Like the text color, the background color should be empty so as to default to the theme’s background color. Sorry again, please.

    Best regards.

    @hi @4msc,

    The bug that you reported is fixed in v2.5.11 now available for download at https://downloads.www.ads-software.com/plugin/footnotes.2.5.11.zip, in that the new background default setting value is now empty for the tooltip background color to fall back to the theme’s background color.

    The non-release status of v2.5.11 is designed to address release frequency concerns.

    Thank you for reporting the bug and helping improve the plugin!
