Hi! I’ve just installed Shortcodes Ultimate as a more non-coder-friendly way to include tooltips on behalf of a client. However, they don’t seem to be working – I can mouse over the word and get the title text as a hover, just like I would without the tooltip plugin being installed, but it doesn’t appear in the color chosen, and the click option doesn’t work. What do I need to do to fix this?

The insert button itself works fine to insert the shortcode, but the shortcode doesn’t do anything.

    Thanks!

    Hi @rmaxfiel,

Could you post a link with an example?

    Thank you.

Here is a page where I’ve tried to insert a shortcode. the bolded “archaeology” in the second paragraph is supposed to have a tooltip.

    The page isn’t available

It should be…what error message are you getting?

    Hi @rmaxfiel,

    sorry for the late reply.

There’s a conflict with one of the installed plugins. Try to disable all other plugins except for Shortcodes Ultimate itself, retest, and re-activate plugins until the issue occurs. This will help you find the culprit.

Okay, I did this and it still does not work.

Now I can’t find the [su_tooltip] shortcode on your page. Is it still there?

No, I removed it when it wasn’t working, but I just put it back. I had to use a different word as an example this time because other coding for tooltips has been implemented in the meantime, so now it is on “Agriculture” at the bottom of the page.

    Thank you for your example.

There are only three possible reasons for this issue:

    1. Your theme does not have the wp_footer() template tag. It must be present in the footer.php or index.php files of your theme.
    2. One of your plugins blocks tooltip scripts
    3. Your hosting provider blocks tooltip scripts

Please make sure none of these is true.

I just checked and the template tag is in the footer. I’m not aware of any block on tooltip tags, but I don’t know how to check. I did disable other plugins to check as you suggested.

Could you try switching to a default theme (like Twenty Seventeen)?

I think I’m just going to use a different plugin. The custom theme is necessary for proper functioning of the site.
