    Hello flyingkites,

The old data is still there because I didn’t want to delete the data just yet in case there were update problems.

They will be deleted in a future update because it also uses a custom table instead of the default WP tables.

Can you provide me with more information about the tooltips not showing up?
Like, when does it happen? on what kind of page? does it happen with every word or just one?

The settings were reset because they were incompatible with the new settings.

It happens on all pages. all words.

    Just not working anymore

Does version 4.1.4 work for you?

    Is the content disappearing?

Hi RJ, I have the same issue – the formatting for my dictionary words is fine, but the popups are not displaying on any page since the update. I’m on 4.1.4 too.

I love the plugin, so hopefully it’s an easy fix!

Note my site is not yet live, so let me know if you need login details or anything to check the status.

    Cheers
    Glen

Hmmm…I just tried to uninstall the plugin so I could try reinstalling it, and received this error msg:

Fatal error: Class ‘Explanatory_Dictionary’ not found in /<location>/public_html/wp-content/plugins/explanatory-dictionary/uninstall.php on line 15

    Any ideas?

    Thanks again
    Glen

    Hello aussieglen,

Can you check on the front-side if you are getting a JavaScript error
(see: https://superuser.com/questions/52263/javascript-error-console-in-chrome how to access the console)

If so, this might be what is stopping the plugin from showing any tooltips.

Also can you check in the settings if your value for number of tooltips shown on a single page isn’t set to 0?

As for the uninstall part, I know how to solve that so that will be patched in the next version.

I have upgraded and it still does not work. I am now on 4.0.

The word is highlighted but the tooltip does not display. I just see a mouseover ? and nothing happens.

In the console all I see is
Uncaught TypeError: Cannot read property ‘call’ of undefined

If I deactivate the plugin that message does away.

    Hi rjvandoesburg,

You’ve already taken a look at this issue on my site (www.yiddishwarth.com) and you noticed a JavaScript error (Javascript error in plugins.min.js:7). I wanted to update you and let you know my theme’s developer did NOT think it was a theme issue. HOWEVER, I tried switching to the basic Twenty Fourteen theme and the pop-ups DID work.

Hopefully this information is somehow helpful for flying kites and aussieglen’s situation. I’ll stay tuned into this discussion in case you figure out a fix and I’ll try it also.

    Thank you,
    Chloe

    Hello aussieglen,

I’ve updated the plugin again and fixed the error message when uninstalling the plugin. Sorry for any inconveniences cause.

    Hello Chloe,

It might not be my plugin that could be causing a JavaScript error with the theme, It could be another plugin that for some reason is conflicting with the theme.

Have you tried having nothing enabled but the theme and my plugin?
If you are still having the same problem my guess is that there is an error in the theme.

    hello,

I have the same problem as those mentioned: none of the solutions solves this problem.

I have a large base of explanations of words in my articles that focus on medicine and medicinal plants database. Before this latest update info bubble popped under each word correctly linked. Now nothing is displayed even a link but empty.

It really is a huge loss for me explanatory data for visitors that I do little repair. I have read the answers none can fix, this is not an update is a new plugin for which to create from scratch all the words and terms. Which is impossible given the number of words and word recorded.

It’s a shame because I enjoyed once this plugin! …

    kind regards,
    Bruno

    Hello Bruno,

Can you provide me a link to your website where the pop-up should be show so I could have a look if anything is causing a conflict.

Could you also provide me with a screenshot showing the definition on the admin page?

Could you also specify what you tried exactly?

    hello,
    Thank you for your reply

Not wanting to leave the relationship without explanation, I was forced to revert to the previous version after uninstalling the latest version (deleting database and deleting the plugin), I reinstalled the previous version and insert the old database that I had saved and everything is back to normal it was the only viable solution to settling the problem.

If I update the new version I will end up with poor explanations posts. Sorry, but it would have taken the data from the database to be updated along with the plugin and not dismissed and set aside with the old title data. Because there is not an update of the plugin, but rather a new plugin that has nothing to do with the old one.

Thank you for your help, but I do not know if you have another solution to include the old data into the new database.

    Hello Bruno,

What do you mean by ‘the data from the database to be updated along with the plugin and not dismissed and set aside with the old title data’.

The data is migrated into the default tables of WordPress, could you provide me with an example of a title that didn’t migrate.

Also, in the latest version there is an option to import the old data, should something go wrong with the migration. You can still view the data you had before, as the DB tables still exist under the menu-item ‘Old data’

    hello

    Thank you for answering me.
Indeed, the old page data is normally transferred
but the problem explanations no longer appear under the link, see for yourself :

    Hello,

It does appear you have a couple of JavaScipt errors on your website, this might stop other script i.e. this plugin from executing it’s JavaScript.

I’d suggest you look into that, try to solve the JavaScript problems and see if that solves the problem.
