I’ve recently migrated my site (StraightFresh.net) to from a shared server to a managed WordPress server (both with GoDaddy) and since the switch the Top 10 Plugin seems to not be counting page views correctly.

After a week on the new server, the plugin has my most viewed post at 7 views even though Google Analytics has registered 280 views on that same post. The overall page views for the site for the last week is around 20,000 and thus the most viewed post having 7 views is highly unlikely. Before server migration, the plugin was working great had the most viewed posts with counts in the high 100’s and 1000’s.

    Any thoughts or ideas?

    Hi,

Just checked out your site and it seems like your this post tracked fine, at least looking at the source.

Can you try resetting the Top 10 settings to the default and checking?

I reset to default settings but it still is only logging around 1 view for each of the top posts daily.

I’ve also tried re-installing the plugin as well.

Is this tracking at the back end? as in if you visit Top 10 > Overall or Top 10 > Daily page in your Admin area?

The below link e.g. gives a successful result.

    straightfresh.net/wp-content/plugins/top-10/top-10-addcount.js.php?top_ten_id=81648&activate_counter=11

I also note that the count is directly displayed instead of using the dynamic script i.e. looks like “Always display latest post count” under General Options is unchecked.

Both the back end and the count displayed on each post if an admin is logged in show a greatly decreased view count.

For example, this post shows 13 views over the past 7 days via Top 10 plugin and Adsense has returned 408 views in that same time period.

It just seems that due to the hosting change the plugin isn’t registering views as it should.

Do you have any caches in place at the new host that could be aggressively caching page views and so blocking the counts?

Although the plugin does use JS, it still has a PHP base?
