Top Commentators Plugin Includes Spam Blocked by Akismet

  • Anyone else come across this bug with the Top Commentators plugin.

    Here is the story.

    User ‘A’ spams my site with a comment that is blocked by Akismet. This user leaves their spam URL in the website section of the comment box.

    Then a legitimate user who is also called ‘A’ leaves a real comment on my site. This user does not enter their blog URL in the website section of the comment box.

    The top commentators plugin shows user ‘A’ with two comments, even though in reality there is only one legal comment. The plugin is counting the comment held in the Akismet spam queue.

    Worse still, the plugin lists user ‘A’ with a link back to the spammers web site, since they were the only user who entered a URL in the website section of the comment.
