Top Menu nav bar janky with IE

    So I’m having an issue with the top menu nav bar on IE8.

    It is not nesting the LI’s properly on IE8 (and earlier, not sure about IE9 as I don’t have it)

    I can not for the life of me figure out what is wrong. I really wish IE had tools like Chrome does.

    I have noticed on the main Hueman demo that something similar happens – there is a delay when refreshing the page and the drop down menu is fully expanded all the way down the left side of the screen, then suddenly it fixes itself (i see the same delay occur on my version, as the scroll bar suddenly jumps, but the nav bar still stays expanded)

    I have NO idea what is going on. Every browser looks okay – IE8 just a grey box with stacked links (and even the colors are wrong).

    Even stranger, when I remove the JQuery line – it removes the grey background on IE. All other browsers unaffected.

    Btw, i’m now only using the original unedited Style.css that came with the Hueman theme… hellpppp so confused

    sorry, I can not help you, but now I have same headache as you ??
    Since I’m not big fan of IE, I left IE8 without updating. As I looked at my website (you can find it in my profile, a couple of threads I opened) it looks horrible on all resolutions in IE8.
    Normally – tested it in all possible browsers + mobile devices & emulators (even such exotic ones like Yandex and Thor browser) without problems. Only CSS modifications I did regarding header (middle) menu are colors and centering (as I remember).
    Yes, I looked now Hueman demo (even Anew, 2nd theme Alex made) – it has something like “auto fix” after refresh in IE8, so there is some “general problem” with theme – more like with IE8, but for sure some small % of people are using it still.
    Thanks for pointing this out – I think everybody on this forum should look at their Hueman made websites in IE8 (if they can find it)

    Alex, heeelp ?? or somebody else who has comments?

    I see in the style.css file there is a section at the end that seems to address ie8 issues specifically – any idea why those are not working?

    some to do with this:

    @media only screen and (min-width: 720px) {}

    in the NAV css section. Supposedly IE8 doesn’t support media queries, though the responsiveness of the site works fine in IE8.

    pulling my hair out – even if it it was the media thing -that doesn’t explain why the background colors don’t load – arg

    Solution:

    Realize that IE8 is super old and not even worth trying to support. Didn’t realize how old my PC is! Still on Windows 7 (upgraded from XP lol). Once you go mac….

    You are of course right, it officially went to history as MS stopped Win XP support April, 2014.

    shows still about 10% users exists worldwide(January 2014) – but advice “Don’t use anything that IE8 doesn’t understand (CSS3 and Media Queries)” is a bit too much for me.
    What I was interested in – if somebody will find solution for Hueman theme, that is clean written & mobile responsive itself – even for such poor and buggy browser as IE8.
    Obviously – not for now, at least for some issues.
