Top padding of body disappeared

Have you modified the theme in any way, from directly modifying the theme files, to making a child theme, to even just adding Additional CSS in the Customizer?

Not that I”m aware of.

If you re-install the Twenty Twenty theme, does the problem continue?

Will I lose all my settings?

You’ll lose anything set in the Customizer for the theme, that’s all.

Re-installing didn’t make a difference.

Are you using any layout plugins, like Elementor?

No, I haven’t been. Maybe I’m missing something, but I don’t think that’s the issue. The issue is that the theme, on every page, has lost the top padding on the body, underneath the header. Have you looked at the link I sent? Is there someone who might have a more substantial response? Might it be a bug? Is there a way I can address this issue and move on? Thanks.

I have looked at it, and that’s absolutely not something that can happen without either the theme being modified or a layout plugin overriding it.

Does it look properly with:

1. A fresh, unmodified, copy of the Twenty Twenty theme?
2. All plugins deactivated?

We need truthful answers on those to assist you with narrowing down the cause.

Excellent. Thank your for the timely, informative response. And which also clarifies: I thought you were saying that a layout plug in could *fix* the problem, rather than create it.

I had no layout plug in installed. Perhaps it’s possible that I “modified the theme” without knowing what you mean by that? I did customize, but did not go into any coding. I had not been in the theme editor.

With this input, and looking up how to achieve a “fresh, unmodified” copy of the theme, the problem has now gone away. We don’t actually know what caused it, so I hope it doesn’t come back. Thank you for the help.
