• We are trying to start up a Forum for our Fiat 500 club, instead of using Facebook which the members have been doing so far. However, in Facebook, when you reply you can still see the topic, and if necessary, copy/paste details out of it into your reply.

    When I click to reply to an Asgaros Forum topic, the topic completely disappears! So I cannot see what I was answering to anymore, and have to remember everything in my head. Not everybody has a photographic memory! ??

    Is there a setting where we can stop the topic from disappearing the moment we click to reply?

    Kind regards,
    Marjoline

    Hello @marjoline

    Sorry for the late reply! Usually the reply-editor should appear on the same window. The behavior you described only happens when you have JavaScript disabled or blocked in your browser or its execution is blocked caused by an error of another component of your site.

    Ok, no problem about the delay.
    So how can we force the message to be visible? Our club does not have the knowledge to be disabling or blocking JavaScript, we don’t touch that.
    I think there must be a way to give priority to the visibility of the actual message. Asgaros?

    Hello @marjoline

    JavaScript is usually disabled in the browser-settings by an user or by using browser-extensions like noscript. If users disable scripts, then this functionality is not available because scripts are required for it. As a plugin-author I cannot force running scripts and I also dont have control over browser-settings – so i cannot change anything on it.

    Hi Asgaros,

    I’d be amazed if I was the only person with this missing subject matter whilst keying the reaction.

    What do you mean in your response? Am I the user that would have used a browser-extension like noscript? But I wouldn’t even know what that was. My browser is stock-standard.

    If you check out our Forum you would be doing that with your own browser, surely? So nothing could be wrong there, could it?

    I am confused.

    Hope you can help some more here,
    Cheers, Marjoline.

    Hello @marjoline

    I could not directly check the topic-functionality because it requires me to create an account. Another possibility for this issue can be the “fading-effect” which is triggered when clicking on a link. I think its coming from your theme. The reply-button is a link as well but usually should not link to its own page – so its possible that this fading-logic ignores this and is triggering a redirect.

    Thanks Asgaros.
    You are right, I tested on a testsite where I disabled the template, and it worked fine then.
    I will check out with the maker of the template to see if he can understand.
    The template is an Envato Werkstatt template, by the way, in case you get more questions.
    Kind regards,
    Marjoline

    Hi Asgaros,

    The problem is solved. It just requires turning off a default setting of the template.
    So for any others encountering this problem with and Envato Themeforest Werkstatt template, go to=>
    theme options, then
    => customization, then
    => pre-loaders/lazyload, then
    => turn off: Page transition.
    Not only will you then see the forum topic text you are replying to, but all the pages will also open faster!

    Cheers, Marjoline
