I LOVE WordPress. Seriously. I wanted to try it once many years ago, but it was too technical for me, so I settled for LiveJournal. I installed my WordPress via the nifty software on my domain’s CPanel and I’m in heaven.

Except…I have a genealogy website that I paid someone to customize for me. It looks exactly the way I want it to. My WordPress blog is an adjunct of that site. It resides in the same domain as my geni site, so I’d really like it to LOOK like that site. Having tried (and failed miserably)to customize a theme for the blog site, I downloaded and am using a free theme I found on the internet. I like the theme, I mean, I like the three columns and the ability to add widgets, and the colors are okay, but what I REALLY want is a blog that looks like my website. I’ve been wandering around the www.ads-software.com site for days now, reading and frustrating myself silly. It looks like it should be so easy! But I am old and new tricks are hard. Before I truly settle for something that’s okay but not what I really want, I’d like to know if there’s a “customizing wordpress themes for dummies” guide somewhere. If not, it would be greatly appreciated by dummies like me who know what they want but completely lack the required skill set to bring their creative idea to life.
